Mountain Bikes - Marin county's best selection
of quality bicycles

Caesar's Cyclery is a family-owned bike shop

Marin county bicycle shopWe keep in stock most of Giant and Kona’s line of mountain bikes, which range from sport level hardtails to competition-ready downhill and freeride bikes. We have hardtail and full suspension models available in most sizes, for every riding style from cross-country and trails to dirt jump/freeride and downhill.

Giant is the largest manufacturer of quality bicycles in the world, and also an industry leader in carbon and aluminum frame design and production. All but one of Giant’s full suspension bicycles feature the Maestro suspension design, which is an efficient suspension design that remains fully active even during pedaling or braking.

For bikers who ride uphill, efficiency is a crucial point, but even on downhill or freeride bikes, the difference is noticeable and important. Giant’s trail and all-mountain bikes, the Trance and Reign series, have been attracting a lot of attention for being capable, lightweight, fun, and durable. Kona bikes are produced with a time-tried four-bar suspension design, known for durability and low-maintenance operation.

As a result, Kona bikes have gained an especially good reputation among freeriders and dirt jumpers, and Kona’s downhill bike has won more World Cup events than any other bike. In the Coilair, Kona’s Coilair is now pairing this proven design with a Magic Link near the bottom bracket, a suspension refinement that automatically adjusts the geometry and travel of the bike, in response to rider input, to either have steeper angles and a firmer ride for climbs or slacker angles and longer travel for descents.

Coilair:
For those who pedal up the slopes they love to fly back down, the Coilairs are bridging the gap between All-Mountain and Downhill bikes. Air shocks keep the weight down so you can go up faster, and an overbuilt frame and solid components mean that you can come down faster too!

Reign:
Trail bike weight with longer travel for hitting jumps and bumps coming back down. The Reign X has 6 ¾” of travel to keep you moving quickly along even daunting technical sections, the Reign’s 6” travel is plenty for most riding conditions and keeps the weight of the bike (and your heart rate) down a little lower.

Dawg:
All mountain, all day; 5” travel is efficient enough for you to reach the top and long enough to see you comfortably to the bottom again. The right bike to tackle Mount Tam on each weekend if you don’t always take the easiest route and pick the smoothest line.

Kula:
If you don’t need the extra weight and comfort of rear wheel suspension, the Kula will be the right choice for a lightweight cross-country race machine. Available in either 7005 Aluminum Alloy or Kona Race Light Butted Scandium Aluminum Alloy, which is lighter and slightly flexier for a more comfortable ride. Check out the Giant XTC or XTC Alliance for similar options from another manufacturer.

Cowan:
Sturdy parts on a rugged frame means that you aren’t likely to break much on this bike, even if you land separately from it. Features a 20mm through-axle front wheel for more stiffness (and confidence) when landing bigger jumps and drops, and replaceable drop-outs on the rear, so you don’t have to replace the frame even if you land hard enough to do major damage.

Bass:
Brown and gold glossy paint with a matching brown and gold seat may be the first things you notice, but a Fox DHX-5.0 shock gives this bike 4” of highly tunable rear axle travel, and Marzocchi’s Dirt Jumper 1 with matching custom graphics completes the tricked-out package and guarantees that your friends will want to ride it at least as much as you do. RaceFace Evolve DH cranks, chain-retention boomerang, handlebars, stem, and seat post ensure that this bike can solo more than a few jumps before anything breaks.

Stab:
8” of travel between the long drop and the sudden stop! Choose between the Supreme and Deluxe depending on your budget and likelihood to be involved in downhill races (NORBA or otherwise). This bike (with help from the riders) has won more World Cup events than any other bike!

Stinky Air:
Fart jokes aside, this bike is sick, and if you need an explanation why, you’re probably too old to understand.

Glory DH:
8.8” of Fox DHX 5.0 Coil suspension and a Fox 40 fork on a beefy aluminum frame with a low center of gravity should keep you moving faster than highway traffic. Despite the weight, it jumps like a freeride bike, and the 1 ½” head tube and 150mm rear hub spacing make a solid platform to land on, letting you huck bigger and push limits further.

Hei-Hei 2-9:
The Hei-Hei is available with 26” or 29” wheels, and is a lightweight XC racer either way. 26” wheels are lighter and stiffer, 29” wheels float over choppy sections and keep traction better. The drawback to either of these bikes is that if someone passes you, it’s not the bike’s fault.
